Going to Bali feels like going on a never-ending adventure. Bali is a magical and fascinating island. Bali offers a fantastic mixture of tribal culture, traditions, volcanoes, picturesque beaches...A trip to Bali will be one of the best travelling experiences of your life.
Bali is one of the most visited destinations in the world. Between tradition and modernity, Bali keeps its special charm and spiritual side. So even if a lot of tourists visit the island each year, the traditions and culture of Bali are untouchable. And all this is what makes Bali so different from other islands of Indonesia and the world.
Balinese culture is a mix of Balinese Hindu-Buddhist religion and Balinese customs. One of the loveliest aspects of visiting Bali is the flower offerings you see everywhere. They are called Canang sari and are made by women. Flower offerings are a daily act of nature-based devotion; a Thank-You to the gods and a way to placate demons; a selfless act in a selfie-obsessed universe . These offerings can be seen in the Balinese temples (pura), on small shrines in houses, and on the ground or as a part of a larger offering.
Bali is also renowned for its bright and richly cultural ceremonies and family rituals as birth celebrations, tooth filing ceremonies, weddings and cremations. If you spend on the island a few days or if you stay for a longer period of time, without any doubt you will see these festivals and assist to them. Balinese are very welcoming!
This is why we all love Bali! We find the most ancient traditions and a fascinanting culture mixed with modern influences. Bali is an invisible universe full of spirits, Gods, ceremonies, festivals and traditions.
The culture and traditions of Bali are one of the main reasons why you should visit the island. But Bali is also full of beauty: temples, ricefields, volcanoes and tropical beaches...
MOST BEAUTIFUL TEMPLES OF BALI
What are the best temples in Bali to visit ? Amont the most popular ones, we can find Besakih Temple. This temple is located on the inclines of Bali’s largest volcano – Mount Agung, lies a collection of more than eighty temples that make up the country’s largest and most prominent temple complex. Also are important Ulun Danau, Tirta Empul,Tanah Lot temple or Pura Uluwatu Temple...The list of the must-see temples in Bali can be longer, of course!
But we would really like to mention Pura Gunung Kawi Temple. These beautiful temples are some of the most fascinating in Bali. Gunung Kawi is an 11th-century temple and funerary complex in Tampaksiring and is spread across either side of the Pakerisan river. It comprises 10 rock-cut candi (shrines) that are carved into some 7-metre-high (23 ft) sheltered niches of the sheer cliff face. These funeral monuments are thought to be dedicated to King Anak Wungsu of the Udayana dynasty and his favourite queens. On the east side there are five temples that are dedicated, according to one theory, to King Udayana, his queen Mahendradatta, and their sons Airlangga, Anak Wungsu, and Marakata. The temples on the west side are dedicated, according to the same theory, to the king’s minor queens or concubines. What makes special this temple is the location and views. The views as you walk through ageless tiered rice fields, especially at sunrise, are as fine as any on Bali. Strongly recommended!
