DAY 1: KUALA NAMU AIRPORT – TANGKAHAN (5 HRS)

Arrive at the Kuala Namu International Airport. We will fetch you and directly depart to Tangkahan, the Elephant lodge which takes around 5 hours. Arrive in Tangkahan you cross the Batang River by local raft or by new bridge to your lodge inn.

The rest is free day at leisure, you may take a rest after long journey with enjoy the health atmosphere of this National Park.

Remarks:

Accommodations in Tangkahan are basic, built with simple materials to keep in harmony with nature. Electricity run by own generator and not available after 22:00 pm. Room is equipped with mosquito net and has own bathroom which comes with shower with cold water (no hot water).

 

DAY 2: ELEPHANT BATHING + RIDING

After breakfast, you visit the Elephant camp where you can see the Elephant bathing. You can join to wash the Elephants. After that you start riding with Elephants through the river with few enter the part of the Leuser National Park. The rest is your own program. You can walk along the bank of the Buluh River, is to see thousand beautiful butterflies by the river, visiting and bathing at the small waterfall in the rainforest close to the river and or swimming in Buluh river itself.

DAY 3: TANGKAHAN – BUKIT LAWANG 

Today you drive by local transport or Jeep to Bukit Lawang passing through plantations and dense jungle. On the way, stop at oil-palm, rubber and cacao plantations, as well as schools! The drive takes around 2 hours passing, partially off-road and passes several interesting places where stunning panoramas can be witnessed. Arrive and check in at your hotel.

Accommodations in Bukit Lawang are simple, no warm wáter and air-conditioned available

 

DAY 4: ORANGUTANS JUNGLE TREKKING

In the morning, you will make a short 3 hrs jungle trekking where you can see the semi or wild Orangutans.

Steep, slopes and dense vegetation will bring you to the excitement oh the Sumatra rainforest. Here you have the opportunity to see several species of indigenous flora and fauna. Walkers must be fit and have suitable, large profile shoes.

The rest is free day at Leisure, you may take a swim on the river or walk to the local villages nearby or extend jungle trekking deep into the jungle with extra charge on the spot yourself.

DAY 5: BUKIT LAWANG – BRASTAGI 

After breakfast you check out from hotel and start drive to Timbang Lawan village, around 15 minutes’ drive from Bukit Lawang. In this village you will visit the place of the traditional brown sugar and tofu making.  If available you can see the process how to make those traditional products even try taste its. After that continue drive to Brastagi, a mountain resort with its refreshing weather and magnificent mountain scenery which has an abundance of flowers, vegetables and fruits (most famous of which is the “Marquise” passion fruit). Here you can visit the famous fruits market and views two active volcanoes, Sinabung and Sibayak.

DAY 6: BRASTAGI – SAMOSIR  

After breakfast you proceed the journey to Samosir Island. Stop will be made at Dokan village, a traditional Karo Bataks village, Sipiso-piso waterfall, Long house of Simalungun Bataks and Simarjarunjung hill as a highest point to views the beautiful sceneries of lake Toba. During the trip you will also pass local spices garden: coffee, cinnamon, clove etc.  In the afternoon you arrive in Parapat from where you cross the lake by ferry to Samosir Island.

DAY 7: SAMOSIR ISLAND 

Today you will make excursion to explore the beauty and cultural aspects of Batak visiting Ambarita village to see the stone chairs, tables and court yard of Siallagan’s clan. Simanindo to enjoy the Bataks traditional ritual dances of the Bataks Tribe. Thereafter continue to Tomok village to see the old tomb of King’s Sidabutar. The rest is your own program, you can take a beautiful walk or ride a bicycle (optional) or take rest in hotel.

DAY 8: SAMOSIR – PADANG SIDEMPUAN 

In the morning you cross the lake by ferry to Parapat from where you continue drive to Padangsidempuan with view of marching mountains “Bukit Barisan”. On the way, stop at Jangga Dolok; a typical Batak Toba village, pineapple farm. Balige market with traditional roof’s design and sulphur hotsprings in Sipoholonand some others interesting spots found on the driving to the southern of Lake Toba. In the afternoon arrive in Padangsidempuan for overnight stay.

DAY 9: PADANG SIDEMPUAN – BUKITTINGGI 

After breakfast at hotel, drive to Bukittinggi. It is the longest distance great circuit the inner part of Sumatra with the scenery of mountains, rivers, valleys and traditional villages. En-route stops to see Sijornih waterfall, Sihepeng botanical garden, gold seeker (activity subject to availability), a nature reserve called Rimba Panti for observing the charming flora, fauna and herbarium, Bonjol where a monument marking the equator.  Late in the afternoon arrive in Bukittinggi.

DAY 10: BUKITTINGGI – MANINJAU LAKE

After breakfast at hotel, City tour to visit clock tower Jam Gadang which overlooks the colorful market  Pasar Atas, Dutch fort called De Kock, Sianok valley and Pandai Sikat, a village famous with its “Songket “ hand woven cloth and wood carving.

Then you drive to the mysterious lake Maninjau via the silver village of Kota Gadang. For the sportive hiker the one hour walk through the deep Karbouwengat to Kota Gadang is a must with additional charge yourself on the spot. From Kota Gadang you will be picked up by the car for departure to the mysterious lake Maninjau , descending to the lake via the road with 44 curves. In the afternoon return to Bukittinggi for overnight stay.

DAY 11: BUKITTINGGI – HARAU NATIONAL RESERVATION

After breakfast you travel further to Padang Panjang, a site  of traditional houses in west Sumatra are alike in centuries back, at last visit Pagaruyung palace in Batusangkar. Then you continue drive to Harau valley. Here you can enjoy the Harau valley which famous with its huge rock formations.

DAY 12: HARAU NATIONAL RESERVATION

This day is free day at Leisure in this beautiful Nature Reserv. You can also see the waterfall and many butterflies and do a jungle trekking (optional).

DAY 13: HARAU NATIONAL RESERVATION – PADANG  

After breakfast you drive to Padang via west coast of Pariamana distric. Arrive in Padang and rest of the day is free at Leisure.

DAY 14: PADANG  – CUBADAK ISLAND (CUBADAK PARADISO RESORT) 

In the morning we transfer you to Carocok harbor at Painan for taking boat to Cubadak island where you will stay for stay at Cubadak Paradiso Village Resort.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  

DAYS 15 – 16: CUBADAK ISLAND (CUBADAK PARADISO RESORT) 

Today is free day at leisure, you can enjoy your stay at the only one beach resort on the island. No population, no cars and butsling city. You may take a day of snorkeling, relax on the beach.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

What includes during stay on Cubadak island:

Full board and free flow of Sumatra tea and coffee, and water
Snorkeling equipments
Picnic days to neighbouring islands 2 or 3 times per week, weather depending.
Canoeing and fun sailing Trekking in the forest

 
 

DAY 17: CUBADAK ISLAND – PADANG – MEDAN 

Today you will be transferred to the airport of Padang for catch your flight back to Medan.

Upon arrival you will be fetched and transfer to hotel in Medan for overnight stay.

DAY 18: MEDAN – KUALA NAMU – OUT

This day we will transfer you to the airport for catch your flight back to your country or next destination. End of this fascinating trip.
